Seek Happiness By Changing You!

As a Mama, I am constantly reminded that I am a teacher as well as a giver of Life. Little eyes are always watching, to see how I will react, little ears are always listening, learning how I communicate how I'm feeling. We have a choice, everyday, as to how we are going to approach challenges that come our way. We can choose to be miserable, full of self pity or we can choose to face things with a positive outlook- that each challenge presents an opportunity; to learn, to share, to be grateful for the things we do have and most of all, to have faith. I like to start each day, as soon as I open my eyes, to be grateful for just one thing. To remind myself of what I am happy about and to tell myself something about myself that I love more today than yesterday. These are little reminders that whatever the day might bring, that The Joy of The Lord is my strength and whatever might come my way, the Creator has a purpose and a plan for me and all I have to do is trust- that He has equipped me for what He has called me to do and that while I will make mistakes, I'm learning "on the job" and can do it with the sparkly smile He gave me and joy in my heart.

Try this today: if you are faced with a challenge, look at it with a smile and consider it a teaching opportunity; maybe to communicate better, to take a break or to apply your energy elsewhere. Have Faith.

Create Positive Rituals

Positive rituals bring beauty and joy into our everyday lives. I love to drink my favourite herbal teas; right now I'm loving Madame Flavour, out of my grandmother's china cup...this reconnects my to my heritage giving me an extra level of comfort and reassurance to my self- care. A dear friend calls self-care; selfing. The Art of Taking Care of Yourself in order to Care for the Ones You Love. Lighting a candle in your bedroom or bathroom; creating an inviting space you want to be in or even scenting your linen with fragranced linen water, all these little things make the action of ironing or getting ready for bed a ritual that prepares you and allows you a moment to breathe. I favour Lott and Leo candles because they are hand poured, non toxic and deliciously perfumed for a long lasting aroma. The wooden wick gives a firelight crackle and doesnt need to be cut which makes it super easy to enjoy.

What are your positive rituals that make your life that little more beautiful?

Age Is But A Number

I just met the coolest lady who totally embodies this and I wanted to share with you.

Sheryl is in her late 60's and was getting her nails done to prepare for her Red Hat Ladies Group day out on Friday, she told me that their group meets once a month, dresses in purple clothes with red hats and all their jewels and that they do it just for the smiles of others.

That in itself is fabulous, but she gets better. Their leader is called the Queen (hello, awesome) and Sheryl is the Vice Queen of her group, but she calls herself the Queen of Vice. This lady is freakin' amazing.

Sheryl is totally my tribe; she loves dressing up, she loves pilates, and she doesn't shy away from bubbles at any time of the day. Life is for celebrating.

(Sheryl is also a complete flirt with the gentlemen - we totally bonded over this).

Enjoy the rest of this fabulous day.
